Step-by-step guide

Edit a PDF Online: step by step

Edit PDF text, add images, shapes, links and annotations, fill forms and sign. Free in your browser, no install, no watermark.

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Choose a file above, or drag one onto the drop area. You edit a copy — the original is never changed, and every file is deleted after 2 hours.

  2. 2

Pick a tool from the tools bar

Text writes on the page or edits existing lines, Links adds a clickable address, Forms adds fillable fields, Images places pictures and stamps, Sign draws your signature, Whiteout erases what you cover, Annotate highlights and strikes through, Shapes draws boxes, lines and arrows — with Undo and Redo at the end.

Feedback talks to the team, Show pages opens the thumbnail rail and More holds zoom, rotate, shortcuts and fonts — then Save keeps the draft, Save and Continue finishes the edit.

  3. 3

Adjust it with the float bar

Select anything on the page and the float bar appears right there: bold and italic, font size and family, colour, thickness, linking, moving, border and fill — no separate panel to hunt for.

    Save or download

Save keeps the draft in the editor so you can carry on later; Save and Continue finishes the edit and opens the ready page, where the file can be downloaded, shared or printed.

The tools on the bar

Tools bar: what each button does

Edit PDF text, add images, shapes, links and annotations, fill forms and sign. Free in your browser, no install, no watermark.

The editor's tools bar: Text, Links, Forms, Images, Sign, Whiteout, Annotate, Shapes, Undo and Redo
  • Text

Click anywhere on the page to write — or click existing words to edit them in place.

  • Links

Turn any part of a page into a clickable link to a web address.

  • Forms

Drop fillable fields on the page: text boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes and radios.

  • Images

Place a picture from your computer or a web address — or add a stamp.

  • Sign

Type, draw, upload or snap a signature and put it wherever it belongs.

  • Whiteout

Drag over anything that should not be there — it disappears behind a clean patch.

  • Annotate

Highlight, underline or strike through text, in whatever colour you pick.

  • Shapes

Draw rectangles, ellipses, triangles, diamonds, stars, waves, lines and arrows — with border, fill, and a ↻ grip that turns any shape through 360° (tap to reset).

  • Show pages

Open the thumbnail rail to add blank pages, rotate or delete pages.

  • Save

Save keeps the draft for later; Save and Continue opens the finished file to download, share or print.

Undo and Redo close the bar, More holds zoom, page rotation, keyboard shortcuts and the font list, and Feedback talks straight to the team. While a tool is in hand, the little padlock keeps it armed, so a run of arrows or ticks takes one click each.

What the other tools do

Create Forms

Turns a flat PDF into a fillable form: text fields, multiline boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, radio groups and signature fields, placed exactly where the printed form expects them.

BETAE-Sign

Sends a PDF out for signature and collects the results in order: named signers, the fields each one must complete, and a sealed copy with a completion certificate when everyone has signed. It is one of the two account-only products.

Fill & Sign

Opens the editor with the signing tools in front: draw, type or upload a signature, add date and initials, and fill the document's interactive form fields in the same pass.

PDF to JPG

Renders PDF pages as images: JPG, PNG or TIFF, at 75 to 600 DPI, in colour, grayscale or black and white. TIFF can also write one multi-page file instead of a set.
