Crop PDF Margins: Trim the Whole Document
Cropping is not about one page: it is about making every page agree on where the content starts and ends.
What this tool does
Trims margins or sets an explicit visible area — the same box on every page, mirrored boxes on odd and even pages, or a different box per page. Auto-trim can find the content for you.
How it works
Drag the crop box on the preview, then choose whether it applies to every page, odd and even pages, or only the pages you list. Automatic trimming has two modes: one consistent box, or the largest safe trim per page. Cropping changes the visible area, not the paper size — use Resize for that.
- Choose the PDF, or drag it onto the page.
- Set automatic and unit — the settings below explain what each one changes.
- Run the tool and download the result.
Settings that decide the result
- Automatic — Off — use the margins below, Trim white margins — same crop on every page, Trim white margins — as much as possible per page
- Unit — Inch, cm, Points
- Crop — Same crop on every page, Odd & even — mirror the sides, Only the pages listed below
- Crop width (blank = trim the margins)
The remaining 10 controls stay on the tool page, where each one sits next to the live preview.
When to reach for it
- A scan carries a wide white border. Auto-trim finds the content box; the crop applies to every page.
- Facing pages need mirrored crops. Odd and even pages can take different boxes.
Questions we get
Will cropping delete content?
The crop box hides what's outside it rather than deleting it — the page's underlying data stays in the file, and cropping a little less brings things back.
Where it fits
The tools people usually open next to Crop:
- Split by pages — Split specific page ranges, or every page into a separate document.
- Extract Pages — Get a new document containing only the desired pages.
- Rotate — Rotate and save PDF pages permanently.
Every tool works on a copy, so the original file is never modified. Uploads are stored under an unguessable id and deleted automatically two hours after you last open them; nothing is listed, shared or indexed. More on the security page.
