Add a Watermark to a PDF in Seconds
A watermark is a claim about the document — draft, confidential, licensed to a named client — printed on top of the page rather than inside the text.
What this tool does
Stamps a text or image watermark on the pages you name, with the position, font, size, colour, angle and opacity you choose. The tiled option repeats the mark across the page for a do-not-copy background.
How it works
Type the mark or pick an image, drag it on the preview, then set opacity and the pages it belongs on. Watermarks are drawn on top of the page content and stay readable underneath; they do not replace it. For a mark on every page of a batch, add the files and run the same settings once.
- Choose the PDF, or drag it onto the page.
- Set watermark text and location on page — the settings below explain what each one changes.
- Run the tool and download the result.
Settings that decide the result
- Location on page — Centered, Custom
- Watermark text — Each line produces its own watermarked copy, zipped together.
- Font — helvetica, times or courier for the built-in PDF faces, or any family from the font list by name.
- Copies over the page — Multi watermark: 1 is the single mark, higher numbers tile that many copies across every selected page.
The remaining 11 controls stay on the tool page, where each one sits next to the live preview.
When to reach for it
- A draft must not be mistaken for the final. Tile DRAFT across the pages so no screenshot loses the label.
- A document goes out under an agreement. A small logo and a licence line make the terms visible.
Questions we get
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes — set pages like 1-3 or even and the mark lands only there. Text or image, any colour, size, rotation and opacity, over or under the content.
Where it fits
The tools people usually open next to Watermark:
- Grayscale — Make a PDF text and images grayscale
- Header & Footer — Apply page numbers or text labels to PDF files.
- Bates Numbering — Bates stamp multiple files at once.
Every tool works on a copy, so the original file is never modified. Uploads are stored under an unguessable id and deleted automatically two hours after you last open them; nothing is listed, shared or indexed. More on the security page.
