Step-by-step guide

How to delete pages from a PDF

Deleting a page is easy. Deleting the right page, keeping the rest of the document coherent and not losing the original is the part worth a minute of care.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Drag your PDF onto the box or click Choose file. It is sent over an encrypted connection and only used for this task.

  2. 2

    Set the options

Adjust pages and discard bookmarks. Every field has a sensible default, so you can usually run the tool straight away.

  3. 3

    Run it and download

Press Delete Pages and the page shows progress while it works. When it finishes you get a download link — nothing is emailed and nothing is stored longer than it needs to be.

Delete or extract?

If you are removing one or two pages from a long document, delete them. If you are keeping a small subset — a single chapter or invoice out of fifty — Extract Pages is often faster and less error-prone because you choose what stays. Both leave the original untouched.

Ranges and thumbnails

Page thumbnails are the safest way to confirm you are removing the page you think you are. Use the range field for bulk removal such as 2-4,7, but glance at the remaining thumbnails afterwards: deleting a page shifts the numbering of everything after it, so a later range can mean something different than you planned.

What happens to bookmarks

Bookmarks that point at removed pages become dead ends. If the document has a table of contents, recreate or repair it with Create Bookmarks after deletion. If a printed contents page lists page numbers, update it too — the PDF page count has changed even though the printed text has not.

Check the new document

Open the saved PDF and check the first page, the page after each cut, and the final page. Confirm the page count and the filename. Keep the original until the new copy has been reviewed; the deletion is applied to a copy, so the source remains your safety net.

Good habits for Delete Pages

  • Page thumbnails are tap-friendly, so you can reorder and delete on a phone.
  • Every tool works on a copy — your original file is never modified.
  • Use Split by text when a document has no bookmarks to split on.

Common questions

Is this tool free?

Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily task limit.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The tools run in your browser and are processed by this server.

What happens to my files?

They are stored under an unguessable id and swept automatically after a couple of hours. Nothing is shared or indexed.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The page pickers and editors are built for touch, so dragging, rotating and selecting pages all work without a mouse.

What does Delete Pages do exactly?

Remove pages from a PDF document.

Can I recover a page after deleting it?

Yes, if you still have the original upload. The tool changes the copy you download, not the source. Re-open the original and delete a different set of pages.

Does deleting a page break the page numbers printed on the page?

The PDF page count changes, but text printed inside the page does not. If the document relies on visible page numbers, edit or restamp them after deleting.

Can I delete pages from a password-protected PDF?

Unlock a copy you own first, then delete pages and protect the result again if needed.

What the other tools do

Split by pages

Splits a document by page ranges you write yourself — one group per line. Each group becomes its own file, named from a pattern such as [BASENAME]-[CURRENTPAGE].

Flip

Mirrors pages horizontally or vertically — the fix for artwork printed back to front, a transfer sheet, or a scan made through the back of the paper.

Resize

Changes the paper: scale every page to a new size (A4, Letter, Legal and the rest), add margins around existing content, or shrink the file.

Split every N pages

Breaks a long document into equal chunks of N pages — the quickest way to turn one statement, invoice run or form batch into one file per item.
