Placing a signature image on a PDF proves what the page looks like. An e-signature workflow proves who was asked, when they signed and which version they saw. For a contract that needs that record, use the signing desk rather than a flattened image.
Step by step
-
1
Upload your PDF
Drag your PDF onto the box or click Choose file. It is sent over an encrypted connection and only used for this task.
-
2
Run it and download
Press E-Sign and the page shows progress while it works. When it finishes you get a download link — nothing is emailed and nothing is stored longer than it needs to be.
Prepare every field before sending
Place signature, initials, date and text fields on the pages where the signer must act. A missing initials box on page 3 becomes an email thread later. Decide the signing order, add an access code only when the document needs an extra check, and set an expiry that matches the deal timeline.
Send and track
Each signer receives a private link. The request can be sent in sequence or in parallel; sequential order is easier to audit. Track drafts, pending signers and completed envelopes from the desk, and resend only when the original link cannot be used.
After completion
Download the sealed PDF and the certificate together. Store them with the contract record so a later dispute has both the signed document and the process evidence. The signed file is the agreement; the certificate is the audit trail. LegalWorkflow and E-Signer are separate jobs: write on the paper in LegalWorkflow, collect signatures in E-Signer.
Good habits for E-Sign
- Click any existing text to edit it in place — the original font, size and colour are kept.
- Signatures can be typed, drawn with a mouse or finger, or uploaded as an image.
- Press Undo (or Ctrl+Z) if a change lands in the wrong spot.
Common questions
Is this tool free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily task limit.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The tools run in your browser and are processed by this server.
What happens to my files?
They are stored under an unguessable id and swept automatically after a couple of hours. Nothing is shared or indexed.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The page pickers and editors are built for touch, so dragging, rotating and selecting pages all work without a mouse.
What does E-Sign do exactly?
Upload, add your signature and place the fields they must fill — signature, initials, date, text, checkbox or dropdown — then send a secure signing link. Both get the completed PDF and a confirmation email.
Is E-Sign free?
No. E-Signer is a paid feature; the browser PDF tools and the editor are free. See the E-Signer page for the current plan.
Can I collect signatures in a specific order?
Yes. Set the signing order before sending. Sequential signing is easier to audit than parallel signing.
What proves the signer signed?
The completed PDF plus its certificate and audit trail. Keep both with the contract record rather than only the flattened page.
