Extract Pages From a PDF Into a New File

Extraction is the polite version of sending a 200-page report: you keep the pages that matter and hand over a document that starts where the reader needs it to.

What this tool does

Produces a new PDF containing only the pages you choose, either by typing a range or by tapping thumbnails. Bookmarks that point at the kept pages travel with the extract.

How it works

Select the pages, name the output if you want a pattern, and download. A range like 1-3,5,8- is accepted, and the source file stays as it was. If you need every page as its own document, use Split instead.

  1. Choose the PDF, or drag it onto the page.
  2. Set file name pattern — the settings below explain what each one changes.
  3. Run the tool and download the result.

Settings that decide the result

  • File name pattern — [BASENAME] is the document name, [CURRENTPAGE] the part's last page (the page it ends on), [PART] the part number and [TOTALPAGES] how many parts there are.
  • Discard bookmarks

The remaining 1 controls stay on the tool page, where each one sits next to the live preview.

When to reach for it

  • You are sending one section of a long document. Nobody needs the appendices to review a single clause.
  • You need a subset as its own file. Bookmarks that point at the kept pages travel with the extract.

Questions we get

How do I keep only some pages?

Type the pages to keep — like 1-3,7 — or pick them on the cards, then save. Everything else is left out of the new PDF you download.

Where it fits

The tools people usually open next to Extract Pages:

  • Split by text — Split when specific text changes from page to page.
  • Flip — Mirror PDF pages horizontally or vertically.
  • Compare PDF — See what changed between two versions of a document — page by page, side by side, with every meaningful edit named.

Every tool works on a copy, so the original file is never modified. Uploads are stored under an unguessable id and deleted automatically two hours after you last open them; nothing is listed, shared or indexed. More on the security page.
