Extracting is the inverse of deleting. Instead of removing what you do not want, you choose what stays. For a small subset of a long document it is faster and less error-prone than deleting dozens of pages one by one.
Step by step
-
1
Upload your PDF
Drag your PDF onto the box or click Choose file. It is sent over an encrypted connection and only used for this task.
-
2
Set the options
Adjust pages, discard bookmarks and file name pattern. Every field has a sensible default, so you can usually run the tool straight away.
-
3
Run it and download
Press Extract Pages and the page shows progress while it works. When it finishes you get a download link — nothing is emailed and nothing is stored longer than it needs to be.
Choose what to keep
Type a range such as 1-3,7,10-12 or select pages
on the thumbnails. The output contains only those pages, in the
order you choose. The original file is not changed — if the
extraction is wrong, upload it again and choose a different set.
Names, bookmarks and repeated jobs
Use the file-name pattern to add the source basename or a page
marker, so a folder of extracts does not fill with
document.pdf copies. The discard-bookmarks option
removes the outline from the extracted copy; leave it off when the
pages still make sense as a smaller document with their sections
intact.
Extract or split?
Use Extract Pages when the result is one new document. Use Split PDF when several ranges should each become their own file and download together as a ZIP. If you are removing a handful of pages from a long document, deleting them may be quicker than listing everything that stays.
Check the new document
Open the extracted PDF and check the first and last page, the page count and the order. If the source had bookmarks, open the contents panel to make sure the outline points inside the new file. Search for a distinctive phrase from the first and last kept pages; a page range off by one is easy to spot this way.
Good habits for Extract Pages
- Page thumbnails are tap-friendly, so you can reorder and delete on a phone.
- Every tool works on a copy — your original file is never modified.
- Use Split by text when a document has no bookmarks to split on.
Common questions
Is this tool free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily task limit.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The tools run in your browser and are processed by this server.
What happens to my files?
They are stored under an unguessable id and swept automatically after a couple of hours. Nothing is shared or indexed.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The page pickers and editors are built for touch, so dragging, rotating and selecting pages all work without a mouse.
What does Extract Pages do exactly?
Bookmarks pointing at the pages you keep come across with them.
Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
Unlock a copy you own first, then extract the pages. The tool cannot read a document it is not allowed to open.
Does extract preserve the page quality?
Yes. Pages are copied rather than re-rendered, so text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.
Can I extract pages from several PDFs at once?
Process one source at a time and name each output clearly. If the goal is to combine pages from several files, use Merge PDF or Organize PDF instead.
