Resizing a PDF is not one operation. You may need a bigger sheet around the existing content, a smaller page size for a submission, or margins that keep a printer from clipping the edge. The mode decides what happens to the content, so choose it before typing numbers.
Step by step
-
1
Upload your PDF
Drag your PDF onto the box or click Choose file. It is sent over an encrypted connection and only used for this task.
-
2
Set the options
Adjust what to do, page size, custom page width (with custom size) and custom page height (with custom size). Every field has a sensible default, so you can usually run the tool straight away.
-
3
Run it and download
Press Resize and the page shows progress while it works. When it finishes you get a download link — nothing is emailed and nothing is stored longer than it needs to be.
Margins, page size, or shrink
Add margins keeps the content at its current size and gives it a new paper border. Change page size targets a standard sheet such as A4 or Letter. Reduce file size is the name for fitting the content to a smaller sheet; for image compression rather than geometry, use Compress PDF. Mixing the three in one pass is how content gets unexpectedly cropped.
Change the paper without stretching the content
When the target is a standard size, choose the page size and let the tool place the existing page inside it. Check the result for white bands or clipped edges: a portrait page forced into a landscape sheet needs scaling or rotation, not just a new box. Use Rotate PDF first when the orientation is wrong.
Margins for real printers
Home printers often cannot print the last few millimetres of a sheet. If the PDF is headed for paper, add a small margin on all sides or increase the margins instead of leaving content flush to the edge. For a digital-only file, zero margins may be correct. Keep the unit consistent: points for PDF-native values, inches or centimetres for print measurements.
Check for clipping and page count
Open the output at 100% and look at the top-left, top-right and bottom edges of the first page. Check a page with a table and a page with an image, then confirm the page count and orientation. If a logo or footer disappeared, the content was clipped rather than resized; go back to the original and increase the target sheet or reduce the margins.
Good habits for Resize
- Page thumbnails are tap-friendly, so you can reorder and delete on a phone.
- Every tool works on a copy — your original file is never modified.
- Use Split by text when a document has no bookmarks to split on.
Common questions
Is this tool free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily task limit.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The tools run in your browser and are processed by this server.
What happens to my files?
They are stored under an unguessable id and swept automatically after a couple of hours. Nothing is shared or indexed.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The page pickers and editors are built for touch, so dragging, rotating and selecting pages all work without a mouse.
What does Resize do exactly?
Change PDF page size and add margins/padding.
Does resizing stretch the content?
It depends on the mode and target size. The tool places the page inside the chosen sheet; always check the first and last page for clipping or unwanted white bands.
What is the difference between resize and crop?
Crop removes the area outside the page box; resize changes the paper size or margins around the content. Use crop for margins and resize for a different sheet.
Can I resize only selected pages?
Use the Pages field to limit the change. Apply it to the pages that need a different sheet and leave the rest alone.
